Hickocks

“GET A ROOM” is a Cinderella story come true for Craig and Nancy Murdock of Hickok’s Gaming Saloon, in Deadwood South Dakota. It has been a long time dream of the Murdocks to turn the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Casino into a beautiful Historic Hotel. With the help of Les Blakeman and crew, it was reality. As a design build project and major challenges, Les made the project happen.

With demolition starting in August of 2005 and completion to be in May of 2006, Les went to work, and created 22 beautiful Suites. As Les started the demolition work, the building was found to have major structural damage, remembering now, the building is 110 years old.

Because of all the structural problems found, we had to add an additional 2 months to the project schedule, and still the project was completed in time for the Rally. With the help of Baffuto Architecttura, Parkside Design and good working relations with the Murdock’s, the hotel project was completed. Along with the hotel rooms, a Convention Center was added in the lower level, now making Hickok’s Gaming Saloon, a “one stop shop”.
